CPD Requirements

The AASCP continuing professional development (CPD) requirements aim to promote the maintenance and improvement of quality TTS services offered by its members in a manner which demonstrates the accountability of AASCP members to their clients, their professional colleagues, the community and to themselves.

Members must earn a minimum of  10 continuing education points annually for renewal of full membership.

To log these points please download the below CPD point form and submit it to AASCP when paying for membership in November.

These points will come into effect and will be mandatory from 2015.

Continuing education points will be awarded as follows:

Activity Points
Attendance at an AASCP endorsed Professional Development Day (eg: Smoking Cessation Update Day) 5
Attendance at an AASCP indorsed webinar 1
Attendance at a conference, workshop or seminar with a smoking cessation focus (per day) 4
Subscription to a health promotion, education, D&A, medical, psychology, pharmacy or nursing journal which is recognised by AASCP 2
Enrolment in a tertiary course in health promotion, education, D&A, medical, psychology, pharmacy or nursing which is recognised by AASCP 6
Presentation of a paper or poster with a smoking cessation focus at a professional conference, seminar or workshop – First Author 5
Presentation of a paper or poster with a smoking cessation focus at a professional conference, seminar or workshop – Not First Author 3
Publication of a review paper relating to smoking cessation in a refereed journal – First Author 6
Publication of a review paper relating to smoking cessation in a refereed journal – Not First Author 3
Publication of a research paper relating to smoking cessation in a refereed journal – First Author 8
Publication of a research paper relating to smoking cessation in a refereed journal – Not First Author 5
Publication of a paper relating to smoking cessation in a non-referred journal/conference proceedings 3
Teaching specific Tobacco Treatment Specialist course recognised by AASCP 3 per hr
Clinical supervision of a trainee Tobacco Treatment Specialists 3
AASCP recognised Tobacco Treatment Specialist course completion (please attach certificate) 8
Conducting an in-service on smoking cessation

2 per hr (6 maximum)
